World Water Day is a time to celebrate the beauty of our marine environment, its biodiversity and all of nature surrounded by water. It's also a time to reflect and give back to the planet. Individuals and corporations are contributing to climate change and pollution every day, whether it's through car emissions, factory waste or fossil fuels. Plastic pollution is something that's also harming the environment — specifically, our oceans.

In celebration of World Water Day, this blog will reflect and demystify the 3 main causes of ocean plastic pollution and provide solutions for how we can cut down our plastic footprint.

To follow our commitment, Sea Going Green has created a Climate Emergency Action Plan in line with our commitment to target lowering our clients and our own office’s CO2 emissions. Our goal is to set an example for the tourism industry while inspiring all of you to join the Tourism Declares community by declaring a climate emergency and creating your very own action plan.

Enough is enough. We’re declaring a climate emergency. Call us a whistle-blower, but the tourism industry is in trouble and without immediate change, the consequences of inaction will be irreversibly destructive to the future of our environment.

Along with 78 travel companies and counting, we’re joining forces with big names in tourism to stand up and take responsibility for our actions. In this blog, we’ll discuss how the tourism industry has contributed to global warming, why we’re declaring a climate emergency and our commitment working towards keeping warming to 1.5 degrees by 2030.

In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8th, we are celebrating women’s empowerment in businesses, and especially within the tourism industry.
